    This website aims at achieving the objective of creating a healthy society with the help of available resources, the human resources development being at the Centre of all such activities. The twenty-first century being the century of rapid growth of urbanization, the development of the area must have to maintain the pace with the growing need of services to the people. Kanchrapara Municipality, a urban Local Body to the Northern most tip of 24 Parganas (N) with an area of 9.07 sq km and a population of 1,29,576 ( census 2011) is situated 48 kms away from Sealdah Station. It was established year 1917. There are 24 no of Wards and 62 no of slums. Slum Population is 36574 as per USHA survey. Some historical and religious Places are situated in Kanchrapara area like Bell Church, Bell Institute, Hind March Institute. Railway CWM Quarters, Dakat Kalibari, Khudiram Bose Institute, Jora Mosque, Laxmi Narayan Jew Mondir, Manik Pir er Gaza, Monosa Mondir etc. Kanchrapara Municipality aims at a slum free, eco-friendly, socially, culturally and economically vibrant town where all citizens live healthy and inspired life, through increasing opportunity to avail basic services and civic amenities by the citizen and improvement of urban infrastructure and management by sufficiently strong and efficient city administration. For development of this City, we have identified the bottlenecks and prepared our plan keeping in mind whole gamut, including those which are within our control and those which are beyond us. We want to integrate all of our services at the doorstep of all the inhabitants living within our Municipality irrespective of their social position. Transparency, accountability, better manpower utilization, effective staff deployment, increased speed of decision making through modernization of office system and procedures would be our motto for fulfillment of our broad vision. We would also lay emphasis on revenue improvement, cost recovery, long term financial planning and private public partnership. I am proud to give clarion call to everyone to come forward to work together to build a vibrant and rejuvenated Kanchrapara Municipal area through implementation of different scheme which everyone has thrived to formulate. We are hopeful that we will achieve the holistic development of the ULB area.

    Kanchrapara is a Municipal Town, consisting of 24 Municipal wards & 62 nos of slum, 48 km. from Kolkata and located at the Northern most tip of North 24 Parganas District in West Bengal, between Latitude 88.42` E to 88.47`E and longitude 22.92`N to 22.96`N with an area of 9.07 Sq. Km and a population of 1, 29, 576. The Municipality is taken up various development program for the marginalized section and the poor of this historically important urban area in the field of generation of self-employment, vocational training, multipurpose extension of Health care initiatives, aggressive approach towards Primary education for the citizens of tomorrow and other beneficial program for all other stake holders of this Municipal area like waste management, anti-pollution measures, augmentation of road network in and out of this Municipal boundary, improvement of water supply system, Drainage system, Electric services, along with others essential services like providing housing for Economically Weaker Section for better utilization of developmental program. As we are in the edge of e governance and promoting urban governance we have armed our system with state of art technology and it is still in the process as we are developing every day towards reaching our aim. We must take into account that we would provide transparent and speedy quality services to the people of Kanchrapara Municipal area. I sincerely invite the cooperation of the people to make this town a model one environment friendly with all the amenities.
